You have been searching for a lucrative online business to join and now you feel that you have found the perfect opportunity. You feel that this opportunity has great products you can believe in, an over the top lucrative compensation plan, and best of all gutsy training and marketing tools. You really can not believe the relationship that you have created between you and your sponsor into this company.
Over the next several years as this company goes into it’s growth stage it is going to make the distributors a great deal of money. It appears that all that is required for you to have success is indeed in place. However, if you do not approach this as a business none of this matters if you don’t have the right mindset. Without that key ingredient, you are destined for failure. A huge burning DESIRE for success even when you are told “NO”.
I hear presentations all the time promoting the deal as a sure thing. I hear this, “The business opportunity and products are so good they are patented and will sell themselves.” The truth of the matter is this. Network marketing is not all fun and games. There is a HUGE sacrifice to be made by the serious business person. Sacrifice of time, some money and some late nights to get everything done as you transition from a full time employee to a full time network marketer.
Yes good products sell themselves but not everyone is willing to buy. When it comes to recruiting new team members, things will perhaps become even harder. This is where a lot of good people give up. Without being prepared to deal with hearing "no" more often than you will hear "yes," you will become frustrated, discouraged and quit. Rejection is part of the network marketing, but learning to deal with it is key to staying in the game. This is a real business mentality.
In traditional businesses there are real business minded people like those in corporate America and there are the hobbyists, like a guys who wants to just dabble in business. Like a hobby farm.
You may have a hobby to rebuild cars, that is money out of your pocket to realize that dream. But perhaps you wish to sell cars, that is a business where you MAKE money. What I have found is that not all who become involved with network marketing are SERIOUS about creating an income from home. They have this weird mentality that If it takes off right away and makes money, great. But if it is not instant it is easy for them to become unfocused and chase some other bright shiny object that catches their attention and they quit.
MLM success takes work. It requires training, planning and preparation, goal setting and taking deliberate action. It requires time spent talking to people, getting your product and opportunity out there so others can see them. Success is not going to just happen, it’s the by-product of hard work and determination. You have to DO something if you want something to happen. And success takes time to achieve. It won’t happen overnight.
If it is your goal and desire to have financial freedom, security, long term residual income and real network marketing success you must first develop a business mentality. You must set measurable goals, educate yourself and you have to expect that there are going to be down times in your business. Learn to handle the “no’s” and not take them as a personal rejection.
Most important, be prepared for the long haul.
Business is a marathon, not a sprint.
