Many businesses today advocate "continuous improvement" as part of their quality programs.  This applies to traditional business and MLM.

The focus is apparent that to be able to remain competitive in this current global economy the goal has to be to improve every aspect of the business.  If this fact is overlooked the competition will not be long surpassing them.

Life is a constant and continuous learning and growing experience. Growing and developing your “self” will eventually prepare you for when you do prevail and find success.

Your short- and medium term goals should be realistic and achievable, but your long-term goals should always far outweigh your present capabilities. As the Roman poet Virgil said, "Fortune sides with him who dares."

You have heard that to be successful in network marketing you should brand yourself. Improve you in every aspect.  Learn skills that will lead you to success.  If you are not constantly changing to remain attractive to your onlookers, the competition will move in where you have not kept up with the constant need for change.

MLM skills in marketing have changed substantially over the last several years.  It no longer works to use methods from the ‘70’s.  Making a list of your family and friends does not work.  This method has created a huge membership in the “NFLC”…”No Friends Left Club”.

Spamming your contacts in your bought list does not work. For starters these people did not opt in to receive this information.  And you are more than likely spamming individuals who know nothing of MLM and network marketing and neither do they care to learn. Most on your purchased leads list will be those who were looking for something for nothing such as signing up for a Free computer.

Slamming MLM – Slamming Your Deal On The Wall , The Call And In The Email

imageHave you ever been invited to be a friend on your favourite social site?  Do you remember what happened after accepting the invitation?  This new friend slammed their deal by spamming your wall.  “YOUR WALL!”


Hey wait a minute, this is my wall and I know that I did not give you permission to spam my wall with your products or business opportunity.  I usually respond by removing the post from my wall and had already made up my mind not to click the link provided.  Always in the back of my mind, this imageunwelcomed link could possibly lead me to a virus or to a Trojan Horse which may allow a hacker access to my account or possibly worse “My Computer.”  Even if the link was clean it is still an unwelcomed event.  Is that how you usually handle this sort of situation?

If you view your wall as I do, it is mine to do what I want to do with it and not some spammer.  If you are in an opportunity your own wall is where you may present your products and business opportunity if that is what you have been taught to do.

It makes sense to me that if I do not like this type of behaviour from others “Why would I spam another persons wall after becoming friends?” I would not.  If the behaviour continues I usually let the person know that I do not appreciate being spammed.  I am not ignorant or callous when I let them know, I just try to pass on the information that it is not ok to spam nor is it productive.  There are methods that are ok to use when you want to present your products or business opportunity.  I imageunderstand that most have been taught this spam method by their upline because that is what they were taught as well.  By the way, that method is old school and it didn’t work then and it doesn’t work now.

imageIn this age we have caller Id on our phones.  After awhile we begin to recognize some of the names and numbers that come up.  How do you react when you get a call from a Survey Company that wants you to spend the next half hour answering questions?  Do you hang up because you don’t have the time or find the call unwanted?  Do you give them a piece of your mind and tell them not to bother you again?  Point here is that this is a form of spam because you did not invite the call or opt into answering questions for a company that makes money by you answering their questions.  Do you think others may feel the same way if you use spamming techniques to push your business opportunity or products?

If you use this type of method for your business you must realize that you are not in rapport with those you are communicating with.  A generic trainer Tom “Big Al” Schreiter teaches that you have only 30 seconds to build imagerapport with your prospective customer or prospect otherwise you are to late and they shut you out.  If you know people, you must also know that any chance of success with them will be built upon a know, like and trust relationship.  If you spam them you will have given up the opportunity to build a real relationship with them.

There are other methods that can be used instead of spamming your deal.  One is by asking a prospective customer or prospect if it is ok to send your opportunity link or product sample.  One of two responses will come back.  One is yes I am interested and the other is no I am not interested.  If they are not interested that is ok and you can still build a relationship with them.  Timing for them may change in the future.

imageWhen spamming, not only does it aggravate people it also insults them.  You are really asking them for some of their valuable time to look at your presentation.  Would it not be better to do it on their terms instead of spamming them?  People are much more open when they are appreciated on their terms and in a respectful manner.

If you have been online for a while you get to know the feeling of being spammed.  Every time you open you email client you get a whole host of emails you were not expecting.  That’s just great, you have to spend your valuable time clearing out your email account of the unwanted clutter.  The best part is you never even asked for it.  You see every kind of product and business opportunity represented in this junk mail.  If it is filtered by a junk mail filter you generally need to click the x on the tab to delete permanently.  Hey spammer, all that effort and money you put into sending out your unrequested mail was just deleted and not even opened up.  You never had a chance and if you wish to continue to waste your time and money just keep doing it.

If this is the method you are being taught then its time to find a new mentor who can teach you the right way and get you some real results.

imageFor those of us that do not like spam we can create filters that will put this useless dribble into the trash and we will never have to see it.  You also have the satisfaction of knowing that a spammer has just wasted their valuable time and resources without having a real chance at presenting their products or business opportunity.  Just remember that if a spammer is tying their time up to create the campaign then you are free to reach out to the people they are trying to spam.  The difference is you will get results if you are using the proper methods and the spammer falls out of rapport.

We teach, to our business partners, the proper respectable methods of approaching people without aggravating them or falling out of rapport.  People, whether they are product users or potential prospects, want to be treated with respect and dignity and not insulted with spam.

Proper methods of presenting your products or business opportunity begins here.  Learn the proper methods of approach and you can’t go wrong but you will become professional.

I cannot tell you what to think but I can teach you how to think.  Learn to be a critical thinker for your own protection.

Automated Phone Solicitations

In recent months we have received a rash of automated phone solicitation from “network marketers”.  They have found our contact information online as we are mentors and have  our personal contact information readily available  for anyone who is looking for guidance in their online multilevel marketing business opportunity.

It is very frustrating to say the least when you are working with someone, or you have started to eat a meal with your family when the phone rings; you answer it to be greeted by a robotic pre-recorded message.  Or worse you are unable to answer the phone because you are on another call or not at home and the message goes to your voice mail.  The instructions are to press nine to have this person stop calling you.  Duh! Once it is in your voice message there is NO way to press nine to remove yourself from being called again.  In most cases when you press nine you return the message to your inbox. How thankful I am now that I can return to this SPAM over and over again. NOT!

We care nothing for receiving phone calls with a recorded voice spewing a bunch of junk.

We have not opted in to receive email solicitation or phone solicitation from any  network marketers. We are NOT looking for any income opportunity, lead generation system, list builder or matrix compensation plan, we are not prospects for anyone.

These spammers go on to tell you that they are using a double opt-in system and you can simply opt out at any time. Since many people have their contact info listed on places such as Facebook, Twitter or MySpace spammers feel that they  have full reign of this info and they have been given permission to use it.  Absolutely not! Having my info in a public place does not give anyone the right to spam me their deal via email or by phone.  Our phone number is listed in a phone book.  However, we do not have a ton of strangers calling us, to discuss how their day at work went or how the weather is.  So why do “stranger” marketers think it is ok to call us. This is NOT opting in to anything.

If  “professional” network marketers took the time to read Policies  and Procedures, they may read something of this nature that does not legally permit you to use automated devices to call anyone.  Please read a clause from an MLM company, yours may say something similar.  Violation of your Company’s policies and procedures are cause for termination.

8. Unsolicited Faxes
Except as provided in this section, Distributors may not use or transmit unsolicited faxes or use an automatic telephone dialing system relative to the operation of their [COMPANY] businesses. The term ―automatic telephone dialing system‖ means equipment which has the capacity to: (a) store or produce telephone numbers to be called, using a random or sequential number generator; and (b) to dial such numbers. The term "unsolicited faxes" means the transmission via telephone facsimile of any material or information advertising or promoting [COMPANY], its products, the Marketing and Compensation Plan or any other aspect of the company which is transmitted to any person, except that these terms do not include a fax: (a) to any person with that person’s prior express invitation or permission; or (b) to any person with whom the Distributor has an established business or personal relationship. The term "established business or personal relationship" means a prior or existing relationship formed by a voluntary two way communication between a Distributor and a person, on the basis of: (a) an inquiry, application, purchase or transaction by the person regarding products offered by such Distributor; or (b) a personal or familial relationship, which relationship has not been previously terminated by either party.

These violations, although they may be relatively few in number, would jeopardize the [COMPANY] opportunity for all Distributors.

We have a couple of questions.  When you opt in to receive that free iPod or Dell computer do you know that you will be contacted by a third party and do you know you could be receiving automated phone calls, not just emails?  Because we feel there is a HUGE difference between receiving unwanted emails; which can be read as your time permits, and interrupting someone at the dinner table with an unwanted phone call to sell you on the next big thing.

Our  next question is this.   Why are you hiding behind a pre-recorded message?  Come on, we do not relish the idea of talking with people anymore than the next guy. However if you feel the need to phone someone about your great deal or webinar and want to get this message out, create a know, like and trust relationship first and then it will not be so hard to actually speak person to person about your turnkey, in-home income opportunity or webinar prelaunch presentation.

We learned some very simple skills, do NOT sell or CLOSE anyone and  do not SPAM people with  network marketing opportunities, lead generation systems, list building systems or robotic message dialling systems.  Learning some basic skills takes away the need to hide behind a pre-recorded message. Build confidence in yourself,  in your company and your product.

Frustrated Network Marketer – How Do You Want To Be Treated?

Slam Dunk and It’s All Done How do YOU want to be treated

Frustrated network marketer, have you ever watched Michael Jordan in a NBA basketball game?  When Michael gets the ball, and his team is behind by one point and in the final seconds of the game, and there is a clear path to the hoop he turns on the afterburners and launches himself into the air and slams the basketball through the hoop for the two points and it’s all done.  Victory once again.

I know that there are those on the internet that run their business the same way that Michael Jordan slams the ball through the hoop.  It seems that they need to slam you with their product as well as the business opportunity.  You hardly have invited them as a friend on one of the social networks and SLAM, you have been hit.  Your first instinctive reaction is to put up the salesman alert and block with a wall.  Now I don’t know about you but at that point I have already made up my mind, I will not buy or ask about the business opportunity.  They have lost my respect as well as my interest and I move on.  Sound Familiar?

With the above method used you will find that you may gain a few for your business but the attrition rate is very high and those that you have sponsored have quit on you.  In my experience I have found that they quit because there is no training and they are left to flounder and fail on their own, as well there is no personal connection between the new recruit and their sponsor due to the lack of a built relationship that consists of trust and integrity.

Does an online, or for that matter, any business have to be run that way?  Certainly not!

There is a respectable way of running a business, sponsoring and selling your products.  It begins with getting rid of the sponsoring and selling agenda and begin with developing a personal relationship that has trust and integrity built in.  Treat your customer and/or prospect with respect with the idea that you are there to help them.  Your first priority is to them and not yourself.  A couple of question that I ask myself is “How would I want to be treated?”, “Does the other person feel that they matter, by what I do and say?”

If you have a product to sell, instead of slamming someone, ask your potential customer: “Would it be okay if I gave you a sample to try”, “Would it be okay if I sent you a link so you could view my products?”.  Remember it’s not about you, it’s about them.

If you are trying to interest someone in your business opportunity, before slamming them try the, Would it be okay if I sent you a link to my business opportunity, which may be what you are looking for, approach.

With the approaches just mentioned it makes it about them and not you.  If they say they are not interested that’s okay, it could be that the time is not right for them right now, you haven’t burnt any bridges so the door is still open in the future.  If the answer is yes then proceed at a pace that is comfortable for them and answer their questions honestly and completely as you can, and if you don’t have the answer point them to someone that does.

While you are in contact with your potential buyer or prospect stay focused on them and spend quality time with them without multitasking in the background.  If you don’t think that they noticed that your attention is divided you had better think again.  This is a sure way of loosing their attention and interest.  Remember it’s not about you it’s about them.

If you think about it you can see there is a respectful way of doing business online without spamming and/or slamming.  Having a respectful and helpful orientated protocol goes a long way with people who want to be treated with respect, integrity and honesty.  Remember to ask yourself “How would I want to be treated?”.
