$5000.00 you can earn before Christmas this year, flashy messages and huge income claims (illegal by the way)  distort our rational thinking.  It  gets worse at this time of the year when we are dreaming of Christmas and what we would like to be able to provide to our family and friends. The sad thing is that we start to believe the confident and brash salespeople dressed in sheepskin. wolf

These sales folk sound so credible.  They keep feeding you what you want to hear; how much money you are going to make … and how many bonuses you will be paid … and how marvellous you are.  The truth is you are a marvellous and wonderful person, you don’t’ believe it though because perhaps you are not accustomed to hearing this.  This is however manipulation to get you to join the “deal”.

Here is an interesting fact … in the same time it has taken you to read the above two paragraphs, another person has given up their network marketing career!  Because they were lied to.  The promises made never came true.

Wholeheartedly they jump right  in to the water without any thought to check out theShark company and the product or even the management team running the deal.  There was never any forward planning or reading the policies and procedures of the company, which could have saved them years of failure and frustration. The network marketing water is murky, muddy and  not shallow, it’s deep and full of sharks.  Uneducated about this industry will leave you as bait for the sharks.

Take a deep breath, STOP! Just stop and put things into proper perspective.  Network Marketing is not a sales business. It’s NOT! It is a relationship business.

If you want to be in sales, go find a sales job. Go work at Home Depot or Target.

If you want to LISTEN, if you want to TEACH and if you want to MENTOR … welcome to the real world of Network Marketing.

If you can help someone achieve their long term, so far; unachieved goals, and help them become successful , and help them own their life, then you have discovered what networking is all about and achieved more than most people will ever achieve.  You will be creating a legacy for you.

heavy hitterI know full well that everyone on the internet is now proclaiming to be a “Mentor and a Coach”.  But look a bit further before you decide who you may want to get help from.  If you are being asked to pay for coaching and mentoring and receiving only 15 minutes of mentoring for your $125, now a one time free session, you may wish to reconsider.  These “heavy hitters will toast you quicker than a pop tart!  

There is an organization who are mentoring for hours at a time, days, weeks and years and never asking for a dime in return for the service.  I know because I am still riding on the same free bus pass that I received two years ago.

Real Network Marketing is helping you discover the person you want to be. Maybe this sounds strange, but this step makes the difference between people who start something and then give up before starting something else … again with the same outcome. Sound familiar?

The most important person to satisfy is yourself. NOT the person who wants you to sign up into their deal.

Set out your own plans and goals and targets. Talk about your dreams. Write them down, touch them and feel them … repeat them.

Now you are equipped to give your heart and soul to other people who need help and advice, people who need guidance and a hand to hold.

What then is the result for you?

Network Marketing-Not a Sales Business

So what would be easier? Going to work everyday, fighting traffic or learning skills to build your network Marketing business? One simple truth, Network Marketing is NOT a sales business. 

Without a doubt, many people are in network marketing without any idea there are skills needed to really succeed. This happen by being mislead into thinking that nothing could be easier than network marketing! The truth is the network marketing is a very hard business, because it takes WORK. Once you have learned the skills, then it becomes easy.

We are  all told, “write down 100 people’s names, go through the phone book and just pick phonebooka name…call it, or show them the products and what a fantastic opportunity you have found.”  But it does not work this way, and you know it if you are honest with yourself.  Just look back over the last 100 people you called and how you felt doing it.  No one wanted to hear from you, they don’t know you. They hang up in your ear.  Find a dublicatable system that does allow for opt-in qualifying leads and then go to work; build relationships of know, like and trust.

The truth be told,  you have been lied to. The fact is no one ever bothered to tell you that you might have to learn some skills!  Get educated about the industry.  If you get this one simple fact, Network Marketing is primarily a relationship business, a leadership training business, you are on the path to success.

The most basic skill set that you need in order to build solid and lasting relationships and therefore needed to build a solid and lasting business in network marketing is communication skills.  So let me ask you where you received your network marketing education? Were the skills taught to you in kindergarten, grade school? No? How about High School or University? Still no?  Well you must have learned the skills from your priest or pastor….no?  You obviously learned the skills from your parents? 

No is the answer to all the questions above because we are not taught the skills until we go looking for answers and education.

Without the necessary skills, you will fail in network marketing!

Some people are just natural born communicators and don’t require much in the way of any training, but truthfully, there are special skills that are needed to become successful in this business no matter what your communication level.  To have success you have to be able to speak to your prospects personality color.  Yup, there is a skill I bet you didn’t know about.

Even though there are good communicators, it does not indicate necessarily that they are going to know exactly what to say and when to say it. They often end up going too far too fast, scaring their prospects away because we the sponsor have set off the prospect’s natural  “salesman alarm”.  

The key to becoming a great communicator is knowing what to say and how to say it (especially in this tricky industry) By this I don’t mean just open your ear’s and closing your mouth. I mean truly understanding and learning about your prospect in the first couple of minutes or less of a conversation.

So why do you think you are listening?

Network Marketing – Why Become Involved

Network marketing is a RELATIONSHIP business; meaning that you will have greater success when you build relationships of know, like and trust with those who you would like to have as a recruit or a customer of your product or service.
Network marketing is moving a product and/or service and ensuring that it gets in the hands of the end consumer which is all based upon the friendships or relationships that you have been able to successfully create.  Sure you will have some customers who will purchase product from a website and there was on relationship there, but most network marketers are a success because of their ability to build relationships.
Seeing that this is the way network marketing works best, it would make sense to learn how to build those relationships.  Communicating over the internet via means such as Skype or other low cost communication it makes it so very cost effective to get your message out to the masses.  The internet has made it so the whole wide world is your market place.  Much bigger area of a consumer base. 
Using the internet network marketers can train, inform and teach skills on the internet, using tools such as Skype. Such skills as relationship building as I mentioned above.  I know you are saying how hard can it be to do that and why so much emphasis on this skill.  Well as network marketers we have in the past been told that it is a sales business.  The thing is that most of us are not sales people and do not want to be sold either.  It is a sales person like you would find at the local department store that is a salesperson.  But network marketers have to know how to speak to people without pushing them away and setting off the “salesman” approaching alarm.  You want your prospects leaning forward asking for a presentation.
It was not too many years back that a person had a Plan A…work for 40 years and then retire.  They had job security back then and really didn’t have to think about a Plan B. This is not the case any longer and a very huge reason so many are turning to network marketing as a Plan B. There just is NO guarantee that you will have a job tomorrow when you wake up making it necessary to look elsewhere to create some income and perhaps enough that they can walk away from the corporate world.
Network marketers have one huge potential to make a good income but what it does to your self is substantial.  Being involved with a mastermind group can bring self improvement. While improving your self you build on your leadership skills. Mind you you may have to do some searching to find a mastermind group that will provide a safe place to grow and explore your past and can help you with one really big issue that faces many network marketers.  How to handle the money. When one goes from just enough money to get buy to having enough to help yourself and several other organizations.  Money can change a person if you let it.  The support structures (which many companies boast about) of great network marketing companies should offer the best help an individual needs when joining this type of business. Once you join a company you will soon see just how much support there is. 

Certainly, we will see more home based businesses start  today and  in the future. It is very easy to see that companies are just not able to guarantee us job security like we were accustomed to in the past.   A home based business is the next best Plan B for anyone suffering due to current economic conditions.

The internet is a great tool to find a Plan B and then to market your business once you find one.

MLM Today-Four Thousand Dollars

Have you seen all of the “Network Marketing Insanity” there is in MLM today?. The things that will be done to make a sale and mind manipulating statements that will be made to cause belief  that we can do it.  A member of my team recently spoke with an awesome couple on a 3 way call.  The couple is in a MLM company selling water filters.  They were telling my team member that their basic product sells for four thousand dollars.

They really wanted my team member to understand that even though it is expensive, customers could over time purchase it!”

Fantastic! Hope really does spring eternal in network marketers, obviously! They want to convince you and I that we can make anything work at any price. Their reasoning…”Heck we can sell it over time.”

This is what my partner said to them.

“FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS?!”

You have got to be pulling my leg?  You would have to be a sales person to accomplish a sale like that.  Anyone can see that a $4,000 product is a sales business. YOU can call it network marketing if they want, but let me ask you a question:

When you do sponsor a new distributor, do they go on autoship for $4000.00 a month?

No! Really, I didn’t think so.

My partner went on to tell them about a great tool called “Success in 10 Steps”. This is the conversation that followed:

“Success In 10 Steps is a great tool, but for you it will not work. You will never be able to use this resource to locate network marketers who would be willing to spend $4000. Our system is perfect to build a relationship business, but that’s not what you have – you have a SALES business. You need to run ads to find salespeople.”

You will occasionally find those who are looking for a $4000 product and will buy it because THEY wanted it and believe in it.  However, these people are the exception to the rule. It is impossible to build a network marketing empire waiting for this kind of exceptional person. You sure as heck will not sell many $4,000 water filters. There’s no way you can recruit those people, because they won’t buy the product.

In the old days it was pretty normal to place ads looking for salespeople, not anymore. salespersonSalespeople have not showed huge success in network marketing, for many reasons.  Mainly because salespeople are not able to train and show others exactly what it is that they are capable of doing.  They can not show people how to be as dynamic and animated as they are. Yet the salespeople try to change people, but this is not duplication.  You still have to be YOU. People are NOT duplicatable, but systems are.

First and foremost everyone has to know that network marketing is NOT a sales business.  It is a relationship business.  When you build strong relationships with people, you create a know like and trust atmosphere.  These people will join you in business because they trust you.

What is really needed in MLM today is a lot of people, each doing a little bit. That is the model that works. You can build a big business with that business model.

The standard for creating huge M-L-M networks has always been lotions, potions and vitamins. REMARKABLE products which are value priced such as  nutritionals & personal care products that get raved about and used up and bought over and over. That is the type of product that creates residual income. Consumable products these are.  When a product is gone it has  to be purchased again and again, like shampoo, toothpaste, cereal…food.  You have to constantly be restocking your shelves with these items when you go grocery shopping.  That is a consumable product.

Now let me ask, is a girdle a consumable product that you have to purchase over and over again each month on autoship?  No?  (I sure hope not as the prices on these garments are high, I sure would not want to be purchasing a girdle at a $100+ a pop each month on autoship. At that price they should e lasting me 12 months of the year.)  With this business model you are constantly looking for NEW customers, which is not a bad thing, but it would make sense to keep the customers who are already coming back to  buy each month.

I would go so far as to say that any product that doesn’t create residual income – people on autoship who buy automatically every month – is NOT an M-L-M product.

You do not have to agree with me, but if it is your intent to create RESIDUAL INCOME then you better find a product which will inspire people to set up an autoship account, so their products will not run out.  This is  the #1 reason for doing M-L-M.  And it will only  happen with people on autoship.

The business model is  simple. No autoship = No network marketing.

That water filter customer never goes on autoship. So not only is there NO residual income, but you also must be a pretty good salesperson to sell a $4,000 product.

I’m not a salesperson. I cannot do it. Not too many people can do it. Can you work and work and work and find someone who can? There is a lot of man hours in finding a salesperson who could sell any product that has such a large price tag. You will be a long time building a network marketing income while looking to find the right sales guy.

Greed and EGO Destroys ALL Network Marketers

explosionIn our experience anytime a  company or downline explodes and goes away, it does so because of the same 2 reasons: GREED and EGO.

True leaders are the Mentors with the servant’s heart.  It’s never about the money. If the focus is not continually on money this equals no greed. A good tip to follow is to build people,  the focus is then on the person not the money.

It is worth while for your success in building a downline that people are people. They are not a number. They have goals, dreams & desires. Network marketing is not a sales business. Network marketing is a teaching & mentoring business. So the track record & attitude of leadership is critical.

When you’ve joined a business and someone calls you, telling you to make a list of your friends & family, I can promise you that they do not have a system. “Friends & family” is what has been instructed to our  downline for the last 50 years, and that is the reason for such high failure rates in MLM.  Most “Friends and Family” do not know how to spell MLM so why ruin a good relationship over something that they do not know or understand?

You’ve got to find people who will volunteer, looking for you and/or your product, your service, your opportunity.

Too often, somebody calls you up, pitching you. They don’t even know who you are. They don’t care who you are. They don’t care anything about you.

I’ve heard certain network marketing leaders say, “It’s a relationship business.” And many of these people have never built a relationship with anybody. Nobody on their team would want to go on a one-month cruise with them.

Some “Leaders” Don’t Even Want To Be Around Their People At Convention!

Why? It’s all about the greed & the ego. The fancy watch, fancy jewellery, fancy suit, exotic vacations, fast cars, being the superstar, all that stuff.

Do they ever help the person who’s been “crushed” by life? Do they ever pay for the next guy mememegoing through the toll gate? Do they ever just freely give their time to mentor others, expecting nothing in return? No, they don’t.

Instead, it’s always about greed & ego, me, me, me. It’s never about the other person.
You truly have to care about people. And then you won’t have the greed and the ego. And THAT is the kind of person who can build huge in network marketing, because you will attract people just like you!
